Throughout our history, Neiman Marcus has always been a company with a unique, if not unconventional, approach to retailing.  

While we are an established and lively brand, our entrepreneurial strength was evident at the very beginning.  

Herbert Marcus and Al Neiman had the opportunity to either use $25,000 in seed money to open a specialty store or to purchase the Kansas-Missouri franchise for a then-obscure fountain drink called Coca Cola.

They chose opening the store; prompting Herbert’s son, the legendary Mister Stanley to claim that, “Neiman Marcus was founded on bad business judgment!”     

While the business is over 100 years old, ours is a thoroughly modern company still very much based on the principals of our founders, Herbert Marcus, Carrie Marcus Neiman and Al Neiman. The Company remains dedicated to outstanding customer service and merchandising leadership.
