NMG CAREER OPTIONS
After you complete the Executive Development Program, you will either begin work as an assistant buyer or assistant merchandise planner. While these are considered the two starting points for our associates, keep in mind, that from there you can progress to senior levels of buying, merchandising or store management. Your success depends on you.
Responsibilities of an Assistant Buyer and Assistant Merchandise Planner
These positions center around three primary customer groups – buyers, vendors and Neiman Marcus stores or Neiman Marcus Direct. The ability to complete mathematical calculations and analyze trends accurately while under time constraints is essential for both positions.
More specifically, an Assistant Buyer:
Oversees vendor support and store communication
Executes marketing events and advertising processes
Recaps and analyzes selling trends
Assists buyer in achieving sales and gross margin plans
Oversees product receipts
Assists buyer in product selection and identification of fashion trends
Manages operations of the buying office
More specifically, an Assistant Merchandise Planner:
Sets up locker stock and replenishment programs
Recaps and analyzes selling trends
Oversees purchase order mechanics
Assists buyer in achieving sales and gross margin plans
Oversees inventory management
Develops strategic plans, budgets, and recaps
Manages operations of the buying office |
